Movin on up!
Posted in Work on July 6th, 2009I am SO glad I got this new job. I love coffee, and smelling coffee all day is amazing! I get to multitask a lot, and I didn’t really even have to have training. I was already loving this job from the first shift. Well, I worked for 2 weeks, and then went to Texas. The next shift I worked when I got back my boss decides to promote me to a MOD (manager on duty). I got manager keys and everything! And after 2 shifts of “training”, I’m going to be the closing manager on Tuesday! I’ve been going through a slump these past couple years, it was different than my childhood, when responsibility was always pushed upon me because I was mature. Skipping 8th grade didn’t help things in high school, so I was seen as responsible even more then.
Then I went to college. People treated me like an idiot and I was bottom of the bucket for once. No one knew my history and bothered to see my potential. Even though I was more qualified than half of the managers I’ve worked under, they held all the power, and I was just the lowly hourly worker. On top of that, I was struggling with my major and trying to decide if it was even the major I wanted, so I felt dead last everywhere I went. To have a boss that recognizes that potential and maturity in me right of the bat feels so good, and to have that right after I came back from Texas A&M, feeling good about what I needed to do to get to grad school, it was the biggest high I’ve had in a LONG time!! So I just wanted to let everyone know that those slumps are necessary, to better appreciate the highs, you have to struggle through the lows. And now, I’M A MANAGER!!!
