I Want My Money

Posted in Work on May 13th, 2009

It’s been a week into summer and I already feel accomplished. Instead of going through Ebay, which was pointed out that the person has to know what they’re looking for to find it, I found this awesome site that lets you set up your own shop and they take 3% of the profits. It makes it easy to run your business online since I don’t have a large scale clientele yet. So I thought it’d be a good place to try since the people there are specifically looking for handmade things. And going through the other artists, there are some pretty talented people out there! It’s so inspiring. A lot of them are ladies that have been crafting their entire life. I can only hope to be that talented someday.

Etsy offers so much possibility, I really hope this works out. I think my stuff isn’t completely boring, I mean, I want to try to incorporate stuff that isn’t typically in jewelry. For example, I crocheted flowers and used them as pendants. And it’s so exciting to have these ideas that keep popping up in my head be realized and know that you did it. It’s art in a different form. So if the art people tell me I don’t belong there again, screw them, lol.

Interested in what I have to offer so far? Well, you can visit my shop at Starlet Rocks.

While I’m figuring out my business plans, I’ve also had some other dilemmas. In april I got my financial aid statement for the fall. It only listed one scholarship, and the other one was a guaranteed scholarship. So it was a headache to contact the financial aid people and find someone to talk to. Luckily it was all a mistake and I got my money. However last night I got an email saying that I’m a non degree seeking student because I haven’t officially declared a major. Well, I can’t get my money now even though I qualify for my money. So it’s another headache to talk to the art and CS departments to fix it. The art lady had an attitude problem and said she’d fix it even though I doubt she would. So I went to the CS department and they said that even though I’m supposed to have art as my primary major screw them and CS comes first. Hopefully that’ll solve all my problems and I won’t be broke in the fall. It’s ridiculous the steps they make me go through to get the money that I should automatically get.

So all in all, trying to get my life financially stable with working, school, and my business endeavors, its no wonder I grind my teeth at night. I stress.
