Pain in the @!#

Posted in Life on March 9th, 2010

The one thing I love about going home is my mom. She is always doing something silly. Well, I guess obsessive is the word. And she is a fiesty ball of energy, so once she gets started, she just keeps going and going and going…

What is it this time? joint pain. Haha, made you look with that title didn’t I?  Just making sure you’re paying attention.

It’s adorable. She’s getting old, though she doesn’t want to admit it. But now that she hit the over 50 mark she has to start taking care of herself. I come home and see all these different supplements and books to try to take better care of herself. She has all these heating pads for her knees, special shoes, gels to massage them with, and so on. When she gets going, she goes all the way apparently. And then there’s the pain in her hands. She has been a crafter all her life, so I guess I know what I have to look forward too as well. :annoy: I think the cutest thing she’s doing now is yoga. She finally figured out how a dvd player works and has a yoga movie she does every day. Aww. She is a bit hesitant to change, and was a runner all her life, but can’t run because of the pain. I’m amazed she didn’t just keep running out of spite!

What did she obsess over in the past? When we were younger, she was the mom who fought like crazy for her daughters. High school band was a horrible experience for me, I was mistreated by the band director, and she STILL won’t let that go. Every time I come home that comes up somehow and she starts yelling she gets so mad. So I’ve learned, don’t ever piss that woman off!

For the past year it’s been her blood pressure. She is so stressed and angry about things that it has affected her for the worse. Her blood pressure is around 170, and apparently it’s supposed to be 80, lol. To understand my mother, have you ever seen the show Malcom in the Middle?

My mother is Lois. Not so bad, but in general, that is the best way to describe her. Now she’s changing her diet to help her blood pressure, but I can’t tell her that’s not going to do much good. How do you tell an overly stressed, fiesty, angry woman she needs to calm down!? It’s suicide. Maybe the yoga will help? But since she has to change, of course we all have to change. So she’s taking us down with her, I hope out of love.  :)

Now I get to go downstairs and have a low fat, low carb, no butter dinner. :,( I believe today it’s salmon. Whoot. (I’m not a fish person) At least its only a visit.

Do your parents have any funny habits/traits? Are you health conscious? Do you do yoga?

My mum also have pain in her hands so I reckon I’ll also get that when I get older but probably sooner than her due to typing on a keyboard much more than she’s ever done. My fingers already hurt sometimes and I’m only 26.

I’m not health conscious and I don’t do yoga. My parents work out though but I don’t think they’re taking at as serious as your mum does. Good thing though, that she’s thinking of her health! :)
