Home Sweet Home

I’m so glad to finally be back home! It was a very long trip to say the least. Ever since my grandma died, that side of the family has suffered. She was the matriarch and held everyone together, so now they don’t really know how to function. I saw most of the family for a total of 2 hours, they were just so busy they couldn’t stop by for dinner one night out of the 2 weeks we were there. It was a bit insulting, but it showed me where I fit in with them. Apparently I’m not that important. Oh well, they can’t say I never came, so I’m cleared. :) And I got to spend some time with one aunt, she’s very motherly, so that was fun. Plus she took me shopping!

Now, my family lives in the western part of Texas. While I was there, my grandfather took me and my sister to the oil museum. He used to own a gas station, so it was his form of bonding, lol. It was sweet, but dreadfully boring. Driving through the area, the scenery is pretty boring. You see a lot of oil derricks, like the one below. They’re EVERYWHERE!

While there is a lot of oil out there, there is also a never ceasing wind. Some genius thought to captalize on that and viola! The air turbine was born. For part of the trip through west Texas, there were literally miles and miles of air turbines standing in a grid! I wonder how much energy one of those actually makes…

But the trip wasn’t all wasted! Visiting Texas A&M was actually rewarding. Their Visualization Sciences program was just what I was looking for, so it was a good thing to go see it and know what I need to do to get in. Now I just have to boost my portfolio and graduate, sigh. It’s never easy. But it was very impressive, and they have graduates at Disney! The rest of the campus was really pretty too, and unbearably hot! I don’t know how I spent most of my childhood in Texas, it’s a very warm climate. And apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so. Walking around campus we saw the most adorable squirrels laying in a windowsill trying to escape the heat!

It was all worth it just to see those squirrels, lol :D

So yes, it might sound like it was a boring time. It was. But squirrels make everything better.
