Go Team!
Posted in Life on November 23rd, 2009That’s right! You should be proud of me. I finally got my act together and went to an organized college sporting event. A football game, to be precise. And I even spent $10, my name is on the ticket to prove it, lol.
Sadly, I did not last very long. But I went! Let me just say, it was at 7 o’clock, and it was dark, and it was COLD! You know me and cold. And anyways, I don’t get what all the hype is, personally. Of course, we’re in the student section, so everyone there is all crazy with the school spirit, and Eamon and I were rather apathetic. What really pushed me to the limit is no one EVER sat down. My feet hurt. And I was COLD.
I found making of people more interesting than the game itself. This stadium is huge, having 102,037 seats. Where does everyone park?! We were right next to the band and really close to the field, but it was hard to actually see what was going on, even if I actually knew how football worked, so I didn’t really even try. The guy behind me who was completely wasted and yelling obscenities every time a guy got tackled was more interesting to me, lol. Why do people go to the game drunk, don’t they realize how redneck it makes them look?
And anyways, why is football the big sport? We have so many sports teams here, but I don’t see anyone getting crazy over tennis matches? A couple of football players actually got arrested last week off campus, and all these fans want to support these idiots who think they can get away with stuff because they’re football players? No thanks.
This girl near me was talking about how awesome her shoes were. Which is pretty impressive that I could even hear her given the multitude of noise around us. But really, her shoes were ugly. She looked like a sorority girl, so I was expecting designer, polished shoes. She was even carrying a Coach purse, so I was shocked when I looked down. I went and googled these Clarks shoes, naturally, and wasn’t impressed. Apparently they’re comfy enough to stand for a whole game, but they’re just not pretty. How embarrassing that I was wearing the wrong attire, lol.
Since I was wearing regular old not comfy shoes, we left within the first quarter. But at least we went. I’m a junior, it was about time. I’ve fulfilled my student obligation to support my team, but my new pocket warmers only had a 45 minute time span, so it wasn’t worth the suffering. I have no school spirit. It’s just an institution.
Do you have school spirit? Are you into school sports?

In Sweden we don’t have school sports teams which I’m thankful for. I’ve seen too many high school movies where jocks are treated like higher standing beings just because they’re on a sports team.

Good for you for going to the event!
Do you have school spirit?
Uh, oh. Yes. I mean, I am proud of people who are from my old high school, yup. And Uni too. Sure.
Are you into school sports?
We don’t have “school sports”. I mean, school teams like a football team or things like that. I think it’s an american thing.

Honestly, as a senior.. I haven’t been to a college football game, and I’m perfectly fine with that! My friends are INSANE about football–everyone is. I’m not really a big sports person myself, so I could careless, but you bring up a valid point– we have tons of other talented sports teams around here and people rarely go crazy over them! It’s a shame.
And I agree with you about going to a sporting event drunk. It bothers me even more when people go to a concert to get drunk. I’ve been to a few expensive concerts where people are so plastered they pass out and miss the whole show! Whaaat? How is that fun or a good way to spend your money…. so strange.
Proud of you though! You did your job! Haha

Haha fun entry you have here dear! Sorry if I was MIA for a while, *hugz* regarding your previous entries!
Haha I’m proud of you for going to a school game! haha but honestly, I’ve never been in a school game before, haha the very famous sport for colleges here is basketball and I have yet to see one! It’s a really big thing here especially when our rivals (my university has a rival and when they have a game, WHOA TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT IN JUST 3 HOURS!) meet! It is very adrenaline pumping they say. hehe
We don’t have football here (i’m assuming this isn’t soccer right?) haha maybe because we don’t have that many big burly men. haha! Am not too fond of it too I think. haha!
I do have school spirit though! Will try to go to a game next year
hehee
Weirdo dudes for being drunk, and OMG, i think i wrote about a sponsored paid review about Clark Shoes! XD haha what a coincidence! XD the shoes aren’t really that nice haha
