Tinsel Town
Posted in Computer Science, Life on December 10th, 2009As of 12:15, my semester was finished. I should feel happy about it, and I am, but walking out of my last exam, I felt really crappy. Looking back on my semester, I was not in the right state of mind. Instead of worrying over grades, I was more concerned about slimming pills. That’s not who I used to be. That’s not who I want to be. I want to care about education, and honor a degree, but lately I haven’t been. So I’m really going to try to do better next year.
To try to cheer me up a little, I went back to my room, plugged in my tree, and drank some eggnog. (It was extremely cold and windy outside, so the hot drink really hit the spot
) One day my entire home will be transformed with lights and holly Christmas time. It just makes me happy. Even artificial snow if it’s not too messy. It just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. You can’t be sad with my tree, it is the girliest thing you’ll ever see
:

Notice the Stitch Elvis ornament that I blogged about earlier this year? I had to give Eamon something to balance out all the purple, lol.
And the wrapping paper, it is so pretty. It’s got this nice geometric silver pattern on the blue background, it felt wasteful to use it, it was just too cute!
So now, after all that, I feel a little better. And since next semester I don’t have a cs lab to deal with, my classes should go a little more smoothly. I’m going to do my best to try to care again! To make sure I get there, I’m going to make my break productive. I want to paint again, and build my portfolio to help me care about grad school. So I’m going to do one painting, and read a lot more. I have a month, I can read at least 3 books if I really try, lets see if I do! And of course, find more stuff to sell on ebay, lol.
What does your tree look like? What are your favorite books to read?

I’m sorry the semester has been so rough, but I don’t blame you, especially after all the stuff you have to put up with on campus and in your department (which is why I adore the English department, so helpful!).
What does your tree look like?
I still have to put up the tree at my aunt’s house though.
^^ I have a picture posted in my blog.
What are your favorite books to read?
Well, my favorite genre is urban fantasy. I think I need to branch out and find more genres, but for the moment that’s my favorite. I used to read a lot of YA books. The highschool scene was interesting for me when I was a psychology major. It helped me see other people’s views on such a big time in their life and such.

i don’t know if we already have a Christmas tree in our home. people there aren’t much excited about putting up one because we won’t be spending our Christmas there.. yay! for the out-of-town
and my favorite books to read are the Sidney-Sheldon-type of books and the classic ones
) Wuthering Heights XD

What a lovely tree! I think trees in weird colours are so cool. I’ll try to find a small black, blue or silver one this year which I can decorate with black, silver and blue ornaments.
Even though I haven’t studied much since I graduated high school I remember how hard it can be to care about school. Even though you choose what to study when you’re older it’s still feels like something you “have to” do and like with all have to’s sometimes you’d just prefer to do other things, which you truly choose to do. Perhaps some time away from school is what you need.
Good luck with the painting and reading! Sounds like wonderful things to do during your break.
My favourite book genre is fantasy. I like authors like Katharine Kerr, Robin Hobb and Tolkien.

Look at that treeeeee!!!! I love it so much!
So cute and fun, and Stitch is awesome. That’s definitely a unique tree, too. I can honestly say I haven’t seen one like that before, so kudos to you!
My tree, well.. I just changed it up this year. I should put a picture of it on my blog. We used to have an “All-Around the World” tree, but…we have swapped it to a modern tree with silver, green, red and blue ornaments. We also have these huge fluffy white snowflakes that we put on there. I’m loving it! And I’m inspired to take a picture of it, haha.
Have a very Merry Christmas!
